Psychobilly mixed with Death Metal is how the label describes this Brazilian trio. Well, I can’t hear much actual Death Metal here, but the Metallic elements of the music cannot be denied. Heavy guitars, sometimes playing riffs that would definitely not sound out of place in a Metal-song; couple this with growled vocals that bring to mind some Death ‘n’ Roll-band or a Death Metal-vocalist doing a Lemmy-impression, and you’ve got a package that is indeed quite heavy and extreme. But the Psychobilly-elements aren’t forgotten either; the sound might be heavy, but the songs are unmistakably Psychobilly.

The ugly cover and the fact that these guys use electric bass (yeah, call me narrow minded if you want to) made me a bit prejudiced towards Frenetic Trio at first… but I am happy to say that the good quality of the songs, the powerful sound and the vocals, which I personally think sound fucking great, won me over after a few listens. Bottom line: this is a very good CD. It’s the kind of music that probably won’t appeal to a lot of people, and others will start with the “where’s the billy in this psycho”-stuff, but me... I don’t give a fuck about that when the music is as good as it is here.

So if rough and tough Psychobilly is up your alley, check these guys out. Frenetic Trio really know how to mix Metal and Psychobilly the right way.
