WilliamK announces the DashOS project. A FREE Operational System that will turn your computer into a complete Music Workstation. With everything you could ever imagine: Virtual Synthesis - Analog and Digital, Audio Recording/Playback, High-Quality Sampler, Effects, Filters, and much more. All running at 32/64* bits and 44/48/96/kHz. Specially code that allows plenty voices without bloating your CPU.

DashOS Specs:

FREE, you only pay for samples and extra presets.
Fast BOOT, your turn your computer ON, and in seconds your machine is up and running.
Fast Assembly Coding with pure SSE/SSE2 instructions. (will only run on at least SSE enabled processor, read below)
*Notice that SSE = 32 bits and SSE2 = 64 bits, it will only run on 64 bits for processor that are SSE2 capable.
32 Bits SSE: is available on most Intel and AMD new processors like: Intel P3 & above, Athlon 4/XP (palimino & above cores), Duron (morgan & above cores). The VIA C3 processor also has SSE instructions (32 bits). (the VIA Eden processor doesn't)
64 Bits SSE2: is only available for Intel P4 and AMD new 64 bits processors.
Direct access to processor = much lower CPU usage = more voices = no crashes.
Several types of Synthesis: Analog, Digital, Wave sequencing, Drum-Patterns, Samplers, ... You select from a list of presets, each preset can have its own Synthesis-Type attached.
Several types of Filters: Analog, Digital, Retro, Vintage, ...
Integrated Singular GUI: No more messing trough Windows and trying to figure out a Synthesizer.
Network connection: TCP-IP and IPX trough a network adaptor, so you can transfer files from two computers, check email and browse the Internet (Firewall included) - this is a separated module/application. So the network is not always running and taking resources. It only runs when is requested.
Midi-Sync option to allow two (or more) computers running DashOS, or several External Midi-Sequencers to play at the same midi-time.
Simple Automated Installer. DashOS does all the work, no more messing with registry, setups, drivers, ...
Sample system supporting native 16, 24 and 32 bits data. The Basic Library will consist in 24/32 bits waveforms.
Sample import module that will allows conversion from most used formats to DashOS own sample format.
DashOS will be available in 3 Versions:

Free: complete with all modules and a basic library of sounds. No limitations, but shows a nag screen at the start of every session (when you turn the computer ON) stating that is a FREE copy with no limitations, and that the user can register for a small Fee to remove that nag screen. This screen shows only ONCE for every time you turn ON the computer. Also, the FREE version comes with a Limited License that allows the user to sell music created with DashOS for only 30 days. After that period he would need to buy a complete-license. Studios can't use the Free version for commercial usage.
Registered: the same as the Free version but without the nag screen.
Professional: same as above, but allows users and studios to sell music without any restrictions.

Who is behind DashOS? - WilliamK is the idea creator and coder, the same guy that along Luigi Felici start DASH Signature.com. With time it could turn into a DASH Signature.com project, but for the moment is a solo project by WilliamK.
