It is an irrefutable fact that the influence the media has on the musical scene of the modern society is absolutely momentous. And it is another fact that money has a great influence on the media. So when music and the artists playing the music become disposable commodities, the amount of what’s available naturally increases but sadly the variety decreases, right?
Well, this is not a new phenomenon. It has been going on for decades, but there has always been some mutiny and some kind of movements rebelling against the mainstream-media-approved standards of what music has to sound like and who has to play it (based on your gender, race, age etc.). But where are the movements of today? Some might say that the state the musical scene is in today is alarming. What do you think?
What kind of an influence do you think this has on the youth of today?
And how about the influence on the modern society?

Why must there be some "movement"? Why can't there just be people who listen to music they like instead of being forced to be glued into some extramusical social phenomenon? Such people do exists. And that's great. These "alternative" movements on the other hand are just annoying.
What do you think?
Nothing really.

The youth are as stupid as they have always been. I'll rather have emos and metalheads who pretend their music is hard than hitlerjugend or rich parisian students pretending to be communists. The youth have always been to most swaying part of the population and thank god it's just market forces that draw today's youth.
And how about the influence on the modern society?
