This is something I just HAVE to reply.
My english number is 10 (In 4-10 scale)
And has always been, since third grade. We'll see at spring, whether it still is 10 . Then I know I've accomplished something quite remarkable. Though my english teacher likes to pick on me from time to time.

My english number was always in elementary school 9.
Now I am attending IB-highschool, so I do my studing in english. I must say, It has improved a lot during these year in the IB.
But my number is still 4 (our grading is from 1 to 7 so 4 is something like 7 in the normal scale from 4 to 10)
Our english is pretty much like mother tonque. So we study english literature these days... Atm Macbeth, Oh my god that sucks! Dont EVER read Macbeth word by word, just read and try to understand the idea. Word by word Idea ruins it TOTALLY!!

I think I have always had a 9-10 (on the scale of 4-10) or a 4-5 (on the scale of (0-5).

9 - 10
Mutta mitäs sen nyt niin täällä Mixxerissä on väliä mitä tuo numero on, jos ei itse kirjoittele sanoja tai lausahtele vokaaleja Englanniksi...
- A tsto vashs nomer po-Russki? Oder wieviel ist ihr Deutch nummer? Et quando numero l'Italiano?
...Jep, tätähän vois jatkaa vaikka kuinka pitkään...
Puhuttasko vaikka musiikista välillä?

This thread has been here so long that it has almost gotten moldy... but anyway, my 5 cents
In the elementary school I always got 7, mostly because I didn't like the language. Later on in the upper secondary school I improved a bit and got it lifted up to 8.
I have to add, that I think that english number doesn't necessarily tell much about the actual skills! If you don't practise your english in your free time (daily, preferably), you'll end up forgetting everything.
...And I can't emphasize enough the need to SPEAK in english. Use the skype! </sermon>

Mostly I've had 10's but few 9's also (from third grade to high school). Oh, and one laudatur (L) also...
English has always been among my favorites in school and sometimes I even find myself thinking in english. TV and films are a good source for new words and expressions.
