Melancholic Silence started playing in the present line-up in July 1999, when Thomas Sandvik replaced the former bassist Mikko Tapio, who had left the band in May 1999. The band had played only a couple of weeks with the old line-up. The present line-up is: Janne Vähäkangas: vocals Jussi Tikkala: guitar Hannu Hämäläinen: guitar Thomas Sandvik: bass Jani Silvola: drums We play melodic deathmetal with melancholic influences. In December 1999 we recorded a live demo in the BRR-studios. The record contains 11 songs, all of them our own material. We got some positive feedback about the demo from one record company. We went back to BRR-studios in April 10th-13th 2000, and recorded the demo CD Losing Everything. The demo has been rewieved in Aorta Webzine and in the Finnish rock music magazine Soundi 9/2000. In the spring 2000 we played our 3 first gigs, all in our home town Raahe. In July 2000 three of us, Janne, Jussi and Thomas, went to the military service, we all served the compulsory 6 months and got back home in December 29th 2000.
