people get detached from themselves
only to hide from the ghost they've created
until not remembering who they were
in fear of having become someone else

you don't know if you want to get involved in this
don't know if you want to take that road
you don't know what to do with all your selfish needs
you're lost with the fear of losing yourself even worse

i see you running again
into the night
away from yourself, thinking:

"what if i end up not wanting
what i first thought i would
what if i couldn't look at myself anymore
tell me i'm not alone in here"

too busy protecting your identity
a thing defined by others
too busy following others
you'll never learn about yourself
