Slowly landing fog
covers his window
as he leaves his flat and heads out for the shop
to start the day
Behind the wooden doors
he puts out the candles
pushing back the memories of his mother's smile
long ago
She hides him behind the counter
and starts to run
Careful aim and shot
He sees her die
A customer comes in
A limping old lady
says hello and sits down on an empty chair
like every day
He pours two cups of tea
Asks how she's doing
Wondering how strange it is that seeing her
just feels like home
The visions from his childhood
haunt his dreams
Every night, they just
won't go away
He kneels down in front of his mother's grave
Holding back the tears
Hoping it all would come to an end
When suddenly somebody screams
A flash of light
In the distance a car is in flames
Quickly the soldiers appear
the sound of gunfire makes him look
for a place to hide
Behind the headstone he's safe
For know
Someone's at the door
The knocking awakes him
They explain that he should hurry to the shop
right away
He sees the burning building
from afar
Flames devour the only
place to hide
