Sinisa Cizmesija aka Burned Fruitcake aka DJ Evolution BIOGRAPHY "The music to dance to that is also working outside the dance floor, providing rich emotional content to take you on the journey no matter where you are..." This is Sinisa Cizmesija ?s aka Burned Fruitcake ?s aka DJ Evolution ?s philosophy applied to his music production as well as dj-ing. Regarding musical genres he points: "Mixing various styles of electronic dance music was and will be a natural choice for me." "I tend to gravitate around progressive house mostly, with softer and harder shades stretching from techno to balearic sound." Sinisa originates from Croatia, country that became little by little Ibiza ?s rival over the few decades. He grew up in suburbs of Zagreb, Croatia ?s capital surrounded by pretty conservative way of life that made him being "odd" in the eyes of other people but that did not stop him. He knew what he wanted no matter of other people's opinions, as he would have fitted quite well in some more urban surrounding. His musical taste started to shape in mid 80 ?s through pop music containing synth elements that sat well with interest in technology triggered by science fiction movies and books that he enjoyed at that time. Listening to radio shows like pop charts and finding other shows specialised in certain music genres, he discovered music of Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Mike Oldfield etc. Parallel to that came hunger to explore all music styles from classic to heavy metal, anything he could lay his hands on. Borrowing tapes and records from friends and consuming music like possessed was a important part of his musical journey. Little by little over the years things started to reveal, music taste was refining. At some point rap music caught his ear with its energy delivered through strong beats and lyrics, represented by Public Enemy, Ice-T, N.W.A., Run DMC etc... With that style becoming more mellow over the next few years , his attention got shifted towards something new... Machine gun blasting accompanied by strange chants and incredible energy took him over as The KLF started to storm the music world. Then came The Prodigy with Experience... The grip was locked... By the time of Music for the jilted generation, electronic dance music took him over completely... From chill out and ambient feel represented by Cafe del Mar compilations to raw ones like Jungle, Gabba and Hardcore... And anything in between... Then clubbing came in... It was the end part of 1994 when raves, concerts and club nights took the music consumption to the next level. Bass hitting the chest revealed true power of dance music. For the next few years it was all about the nightlife, didn't matter if it was weeknight or weekend. In 1997 things started to change as he got involved in music industry journalism and event production. Dj-ing came in naturally from that point in time. DJ Evolution started to do warmup sets containing his favourites tracks and artists at the time, Leftfield, Orbital, Banco De Gaia etc... Little by little came bigger gigs and sound that he was representing became mixture of progressive house and trance. In the following years he played all over Croatia on festivals and club nights doing also weekly residencies in some of the biggest Croatian clubs. At 2006 he moved to Finland to start a family and that resulted in him being away from electronic music scene for a while. As the music and dancing is like air and water to him that he can not live without, he found alternatives to DJ-ing in becoming Zumba and fitness instructor. He started to party in daytime providing good time and healthy lifestyle for the people. But the itch was there to come back to electronic music scene. Only this time it came as a idea of producing music he loves and not only reproducing somebody else's works. So, around 2016 started a new chapter in his musical journey as he embraced music producer role as Burned Fruitcake. It took three years to gather knowledge and achieve satisfying production skills before he was ready to reveal his work. The results are out there now as his first release was in April 1019 with two of his productions featured on Miami Sampler compilation published by Emotional Content Recordings label run by Nick Lewis. Forthcoming 8-track album is soon to be released under the same label and there are also some remixes in queue so the things are starting to roll for Burned Fruitcake. Future plans contain further development of his own sound signature and skills. Going back on stage at some point is very probable both as DJ Evolution or Burned Fruitcake ?s live act. Or maybe a fusion of both...
