The Final Farewell of the Little Poet Book

I'm just a little poet book
so many hands I have been through
I don't really know my worth
but you might like to hear my words:
I'm flooding of the stories to be told!

You bought me from a discount sale
Enjoyed me with a lager ale
If you don't think that I was boring
You may give me one more story
This is how my lines were written down.

The stories of our lives
have been put in the words
between the covers of the average books.
And sometimes in my nightmares
I see that I'll be
resold again and again!

Lady, you got to read me
Lady, no-one else needs me
Lady, just don't you throw me away...

But at the morning I can see
I was brought back to this old boutique
You swapped me for a magazine
and walked away in your Disciplines
You didn't understand my poetry.

Laying among these pretty toys
I fear those little, vicious boys
to tear me in little pieces,
scatter all around my pages
Who would help to spare my wretched lines?

And then I see you standing
behind the shop window
fumbling the letters on me.
Of course you do regret
and now you are back
to take me, to take me again!

Lady, you got to read me
Lady...

Waste of life in antiquarians
that's why I feel I must hurry and
catch you as you browse my time-worn pages.
Don't you find me very interesting,
the things I tell you pretty impressing?
In dusty shelves my days will fade away...

Lady, you got to read me
Lady, no-one else needs me
Lady, just don't you pass me now...

(Don't take me now...)
(I'll take you home!)
