That is just bullshit. There are no universal ways to encode music from proteins. Every scientist (if they do not know about each other) will have diffirent kind of music from same proteins.

A new innoative way to use science? Hell no!
I wod say this is one of the tsupidest things you can use the time of a league of scientists.
What the heck do you do with the sound of a protein??
Another bullshit of a step in our history.

I think you did not quite get the point.
The point is, it is just another pseudo random generator to use as a basis of generating some note sequences.
There are very many things that could be used as well, like video from a camera set so that it sees some part of some metro station. This could actually be interesting as the seed signal (video) would have somewhat periodic nature based on the metro timetable but it would have a rondom element from the people that get on and of the train.
There are creative and interesting uses for this kind of stuff. This one probably just isn't that interesting musically.
The more interesting thing in that article is actually this: "We want to see if we can hear patterns within the music, as opposed to looking at the letters of an amino acid or protein sequence."

Still to me this dosnt give anything concrete that we could use.
Mayby it just goes beyond my understanding

I'd say it's beyond any understanding.
They're looking for something they can generate if they make the 'converter' generate it.
I think it's not about the genes or patterns but about who pays who and how much.
Hell, I'd do the same if it could support my financial affairs!

Nice. Perhaps the same scientists next generate a cure for cancer!
