CHURNS

the long-awaited silence, it fell at last
and in the dust lay the towers of our past
only one is there left to see
to witness this atrocity
to hear a bidding beneath the crust so vast

a swift benightment this broken planet yearns
rent in the turmoils of planetary churns
to end another unglorious reign
another evolution, lost, in vain
with a dying flame the light of man now burns...
