It started sometime in 2002. It was when Jouni Honkala found Matias Reenpää through a random internet-ad that Gasoline first started off, then called Gasolione Flashgas. They started to play songs together and also looking for a bass player and a 2nd guitar player. Before this time Jouni and Matias played both acoustic and electric shows together as a duet in small bars and parties in Helsinki. Soon after this they found Tarmo Rouhiainen to play guitar and Arho Viitala for the bass. The Gasoline boys went to record their Vampire album. This was about 2003. Janne Immonen recorded that 13-track album. Then the band changed the line up with Antti Blomfelt signing in as the bass player. Antti had similar intresses about music. Loud ones. The band only played one gig in Stella Star Bar in 2004. Soon after that Gasoline went on a long break.
Jouni was away for personal reasons. There were discussions about switching Matias to vocals already at that time but it took until 2007 until the band was back. Anima-guitarist Mika Rissanen joined in because of his past as a drummer and because he had not lost his passion to play strong powerdrums. And so everything was quite fast in their place. Matias went to India in February 2007 for a month and meanwhile the band built old songs into new versions that were typically shorter and more aggressive than before. When Matias came back everything was ready for him to sing. The Gasoline band went straight in to record in a studio and then started mixing in another. For a video the band needed recorded material and so came out 11 songs in a very short period of time. A few gigs in helsinki were arranged, and the success has been great ever since.
In May 2008 Gasoline experienced another line-up change; bassist since 2003 Andy Blofeld and quite recently acquired drummer Mika Rissanen quit the band. As Gasoline was meant as a project only-type of band for both, it was time to start making Gasoline into a band of its own. As was well known around the band's friends, it wasn't great that the band Anima had 3 of the same persons as Gasoline. Jouni and Matias would again have to find new blood for their Gasoline.
Gasoline reunited 2008 july with Ville Pelkonen (ex-Jimsonweed) on bass and Janne Parviainen (ex-Waltari, ex-Jimsonweed, Ensiferum) on drums for a gig at On the rocks.
November 2008: Gasoline is proud to announce the process of its new album "V8" as completed. Mixed by TT Oksala at Finnvox studios V8 is set to be released in early 2009.
Laulu on sumusta, sanoista ei saa mitään selvää. Tunteetonta, sielutonta mölyä. Ja punkki/rokki asenne on tästä poppoosta hyvin kaukana. Ei mitään uutta eikä tippaakaan rajuutta.
